"If every eight-year-old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation."
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
samten was set up in 2016 following a chance encounter between Welsh entrepreneur, Jamie Watkins and Gelong Thubten, a well-known practising Buddhist monk.
Both men had encountered many life experiences on their individual journeys and shared a vision of making the world a better place.
Using their combined skills and beliefs, the idea of samten was born, with the overall vision of using meditation and mindfulness to build a global compassionate community to increase happiness and alleviate suffering.
In support of this vision, 50% of the company's profits will be donated to charities to establish projects which make meditation and mindfulness more accessible to people from all walks of life across the world.
Initially launching as an app, the journey to bring samten to the world has been a road paved with challenges and universal syncronicity in equal measures.
Now supported by an 8 strong team, all sharing a passion and vision to give back to the world, along with major investment secured in the last 2 years, the app is currently undergoing a redesign and will launch in Q1 of 2021.
However, with thousands of users across the world - from the UK to Europe, USA to Australia and New Zealand to Japan - already experiencing the benefits of samten's approach to meditation and mindfulness, the app is just the launch pad for samten. Future plans to expand into other areas already taking shape.
